Overview

This 1947 Aeronca Champion S/N 7AC-7048 (N3759E) is a classic high-wing, fabric covered two-seat

single engine aircraft. It features a maroon and white exterior with blue stripes, and a maroon and gray

leather interior with tandem seating and dual control sticks.

The aircraft was disassembled and completely refurbished in 1995. All metal parts were sand blasted,

checked for corrosion, straightness and good weld joints. After inspection, all metal parts were primed

with two full wet coats of epoxy primer. All wood, glass interior and exterior fabrics were replaced.

Fuselage, tail feathers, wings and ailerons were covered with Ceconite 102 fabric in accordance with

STC SA3-372. The aircraft was then painted using a PPG paint system for fabric aircraft. Please note

that there are several spots; upper surface of fuselage, some areas of the leading edges, where the

paint appears to have not dried smoothly. We can’t really tell what created it. But no paint is flaking or

weathering off of these areas. See attached photos.

The windscreen and all glass were replaced with new units from L.P. Aero Plastics. The interior

was replaced using FAR approved materials. The original engine was removed and replaced with a

Continental O-200-A under STC SA3-372.

This aircraft is offered for sale with a fresh annual inspection (August 2014) and some gaps in log book

coverage. Airframe logs cover the time periods 1955–1984,and 1995 to the present. Engine logs cover

1965-1980, and 1986 to the present. The propeller log covers 1991 to the present. The aircraft is

located at the Spirit of Saint Louis Airport (KSUS) in Chesterfield, MO.

Some have asked about if it is LSA eligible – We don’t know. Some publications indicate the 7AC IS

eligible. But you would have to make that determination yourself – not us.

One paragraph erroneously refers to a Lycoming O-200 engine. It is a Continental engine as stated elsewhere. Sorry for the mistake.
