This is the BEST WAY to own and maintain an airplane. I've been a 25% owner in this plane for 3 years - and it's been awesome. The owners are a great group of guys who all live in the Austin/Lakeway, TX area. We love planes, flying, hanging out and enjoying this great American past time. This engine recently went through a complete overhaul and has only 200 hours (approx, plane is being flown). The maintenance is always kept current (professionally) and oil changes are done regularly - with oil samples and analysis done.
Plane was completely refurbished in 2007 with all new, beautiful paint job, new leather interior, avionics upgrades and mechanical restoration. It runs and flies solid, reliable and true. A Cessna 182 is truly the do-anything, go-anywhere airplane. With a load capacity of well over 1000 lbs, you can bring 4 people, all your luggage and fly for hours! (Of course, ALWAYS do your weight and balance!!)
Avionics include DUAL Garmin 300/300x panel, audio panel, xponder, push-to-talk on both yokes, a Garmin in-panel 396 with live weather, IFR-certified and very capable plane!
With airplane prices and maintenance costs what they are - it is so nice to be able to share the burden with 3 other people. So, a $1000 repair for a solo-owner would only be $250 as a quarter partner! That's a big difference. It keeps the FUN IN FLYING.
This plane is carefully maintained, managed and accounted for. All records are emailed monthly to each owner. We keep a GOOGLE calendar for usage - and everyone is respectful of the calendar. This plane is a pleasure-plane for all owners, and so booking time is easy and available. The atmosphere at the airport is one of friendship, love of aviation and community. More than just the airplane, you are buying into a community of really great pilots and their families.
I am selling my share because I bought a Piper Saratoga Turbo and would like to use this money to purchase a beach house for my family.
