Just removed from my Cessna for installation of upgraded ADS-B compatible GPS/Comm system.
Display on this unit worked perfectly on flight in to avionics shop, tunes manually or automatically from the Narco Nav/Comm just fine, but it does not display distance.
My avionics guy said it would certainly be economically repairable, since the display, tuner, and other mechanicals are perfect.
These displays alone are selling for about $150 without any of the other electronics. This display is perfect. And as you may know, Narco isn't selling parts or service anymore.
The DME-890 has a remote channeling capability, allowing it to get the proper NAV channel from your existing Narco NAV Receiver. You may also tune the DME-890 directly. This feature lets you monitor your position relative to other VORs, while still navigating toward the primary VOR station.
The DME-890's will simultaneously show distance, groundspeed, and time-to-station on its bright gas discharge display.

Narco is gone, but there are still plenty of parts and shops who can fix these out there. If you have one of these in your plane, you know a spare box, if only for the display, is probably a good idea.
