Reason #1 - It Is One Of The Fastest Single Engine Airplanes Ever Produced...

Depending on who you talk to or where you look for your numbers, some will say that it is the fastest single engine airplane ever produced. The bottom line is that it is truly in a league of its own with very few competitors when it comes to raw speed and power.

The interesting thing about the Bravo is that when you think about it, the engine is not all that big! Sure it has a 270-HP Lycoming TIO-540-AF1A in it. But if you look at some of the other single engine airplanes on the market, they have around the same size engines.

If you compare the Bravo to a 6 seater, your going to find that some of the bigger ones have 300-HP engines or bigger. So yes, the 270-HP engine that the Mooney has is big, but it is not overly large when you compare it to other airplanes.
