This beautiful Straight Tail Piper Lance was owned and maintained by a Part 135 operation up until I purchased it in 2013. I needed a strong, heavy lifter for my wife and 4 kids. I couldn't have asked for a better performing aircraft. With a useful load of 1375 lbs (six seats installed, WB was also calculated with 4 - 2 - and no seats installed in the aft cabin) and a fuel burn of only 14-15 GPH (21in/mp and 2300 rpm) and cruising at 145kts IAS and 150-160Kts across the ground- this plane was more fuel efficient then my 160 HP Cherokee. Don't be fooled by the "high" total airframe time, as any experienced pilot knows, it's whats on the inside that matters. The "Bullet Proof" Lycoming IO-540-K came from the AeroRecip in 2003 (see certificate) and the prop and governor are relatively new as well. The plane just got out of annual and all the hydraulic actuators were rebuilt, the hydraulic power pack was replaced with a new unit, all the landing gear struts were rebuilt, wheel bearing and races replaced and of course the compressions were all in the upper 70's. The only reason we are selling is because my family just grew to 7 and we purchased a bigger home and can't afford both. Myself and a few "Eager" students poured out our blood, sweat and tears into polishing the airframe and giving this beauty a very unique look. All the graphics are high quality 3M vinyl (so if you don't like the look, no worries, they will come off). It will be on "Trade-a-Plane's" cover next month! In addition to the new leather interior, the forward glass was replaced with LP Aero's STC'd 1/4 inch thick windshield. ALL the fiberglass was professionally painted with a 2-stage (base and clear) silver and EVERYTHING is functional including the Century III autopilot and electric trim! Ideally, I am looking 2 more 25% partners somewhere in the Southwestern United States. We can split up year/flight time however makes sense (as of now it is unavailable Sept-Nov). This plane makes so much sense when traveling with a group of 4 or more to a nearby (500NM) location. You can easily make it there nonstop with 1/2-3/4 fuel. We have done the Grand Canyon (45min), San Diego (1:45), Vegas and Catalina Island several times. And the best part is that it is CHEAPER and QUICKER then trying to get there commercially! It is a BLAST! If I wasn't in love with this plane I wouldn't offering a partnership. I just need can't justify keeping the WHOLE thing for myself!
