1976 MOONEY M20F, 3100 TT, UPDATED, GREAT PROJECT, VERY LITTLE DAMAGE, CHEAP !!

ONLY 3140 HOURS SINCE NEW AIRFRAME TOTAL TIME

  RECENT MODERN MOONEY "SWISH" PAINT SCHEME, IN OVERALL WHITE, WITH RED ACCENTS AND BLACK AND GOLD STRIPES.  LOOKS GOOD.

THE 1976 M20F HAS MANY FEATURES THAT WE ASSOCIATE WITH THE 1977 M20J/201, THAT REALLY STARTED IN THIS MODEL.

FOR INSTANCE: WRAP AROUND DASH, WITH 6 PACK GUAGE LAYOUT AND TRUE CENTER STACK RADIOS AND LONG GLARESHIELD, GIVES A MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE SCAN, AND A VOLUME FEEL TO THE COCKPIT !!

THIS NICE LATE MODEL M20F EXECUTIVE SUSTAINED DAMAGE WHEN IT WAS LANDED ACCIDENTALLY GEAR UP ON THE RUNWAY.

THIS IS IN GENERAL NOT GOOD FOR AN AIRPLANE, AND THIS ONE TOO SUSTAINED DAMAGE AS A RESULT. THE BIG SURPRISE WHEN I SAW IT MYSELF LAST WEEK WAS HOW LITTLE DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED !!

THIS AIRPLANE DID SCRAPE ON IT'S BELLY, BUT MANY OF THE ITEMS THAT ARE GENERALLY DAMAGED WERE NOT ON THIS AIRPLANE BECAUSE IT HAD THE ONE PIECE BELLY MOD, NOT THE STANDARD THIN SKINS !!

UNFORTUNATELY, THE BELLY FIBERGLASS SACRIFICED ITSELF TO SAVE THE PARTS INSIDE AND WAS DAMAGED, SO IT WAS NOT RETAINED, AND IS NOT INCLUDED

THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRPLANE FROM THE GEAR UP APPEARS TO BE:

THE TWO SKINS BELOW THE WING ON EACH EDGE OF THE BELLY OPENING ARE SCRAPED (STANDARD DAMAGE), AS WELL AS THE MIDDLE FALSE BULKHEADS BENT SLIGHTLY FROM THE WEIGHT, (ALSO STANDARD DAMAGE)

WHAT IS NOT CUSTOMARY IS THE LACK OF DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRIC GEAR MOTOR AND ACTUATOR (NO SCRAPING OR DAMAGE), AS WELL AS NO DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR SUPPORT , WHICH ALMOST ALWAYS GETS HURT !!

THERE APPEARS TO BE NO FIREWALL DAMAGE, AND NO DAMAGE AT ALL TO THE WING FROM SCRAPING, NOT EVEN THE INBOARD FLAP HANGERS, WHICH AGAIN USUALLY GET HURT !!

BOTH NOSE GEAR DOORS ARE SCRAPED, BUT THE MAIN GEAR DOORS ARE FINE. AS THE GEAR WAS NEVER SELECTED DOWN, IT SUSTAINED NO DAMAGE, SO ALL 3 GEAR ARE GOOD !! THE ONLY OTHER DAMAGE FROM THE GEAR UP IS TO THE AREA OF THE TAIL CONE WHICH HAS THE STEP MOUNTED TO IT. 2 OF THE ACTUATING RODS IN THE BELLY ARE ALSO BENT

THE STEP SCRAPED, AND PUSHED UP INTO THE SURROUNDING SKIN, SO THERE IS A WRINKLE THERE. THERE IS NO OTHER APPARENT AIRFRAME DAMAGE AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT (NOT AN ACCIDENT BY FAA GUIDELINES)

THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE VERTICAL FIN/HORIZONTAL ASSEMBLY, OR THE RUDDER OR ELEVATORS

IN ORDER TO TRANSPORT THIS AIRPLANE WITH IT'S ONE PIECE WING, THE RECOVERY PEOPLE DID WHAT IS STANDARD FOR THE MOONEY: THEY REMOVED THE TAIL FEATHERS, DRILLED OUT THE RIVITS AND REMOVED THE TAILCONE FROM THE FUSELAGE, REMOVED THE ENGINE AND ENGINE MOUNT, AND HAULED THE AIRPLANE SIDEWAYS ON THIER TRAILER, ON THE EXTENDED AND LOCKED DOWN GEAR !!

IT LOOKS ODD, BUT THIS IS A NORMAL METHOD OF TRANSPORTATION. DURING TRANSPORTATION, A HOLE WAS PUNCTURED IN THE LEADING EDGE OF THE RIGHT WING, ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. THIS AREA OF THE WING DOES NOT CONTAIN THE FUEL TANK OR THE SPAR, AND ONLY SKIN WAS AFFECTED, NO RIBS OR STRINGERS.

ONLY A SMALL PATCH WILL BE REQUIRED, NOT A WHOLE SKIN REPLACEMENT. THE REST OF THE WING IS UNDAMAGED.

THIS AIRFRAME IS BEING SOLD WITHOUT THE PROP STRIKE LYCOMING ENGINE AND IT'S ACCESSORIES, BUT WITH THE UNDAMAGED COWLING, AND THE UNDAMAGED ENGINE MOUNT, PLUS THE OIL COOLER, AND ALL OF THE ENGINE CONTROL CABLES.

AS YOU CAN SEE, SOME OF THE AVIONICS, THE AUTOPILOT AND A FEW OF THE INSTRUMENTS WERE ALSO REMOVED, AND ARE NOT INCLUDED, BUT ALL OF THE INSTRUMENTS SHOWN, PLUS THE ENGINE/FUEL GUAGES, SWITCHGEAR, ETC. ARE INSTALLED AND INCLUDED.

THE FLAPS WERE REMOVED FOR TRANSPORTATION, AND ARE ALSO NOT INCLUDED. THE AILERONS ARE ON THE WINGS, AND UNDAMAGED

(SEVERAL ITEMS ARE MISSING, I KNOW. THE AIRPLANE WAS IN THE POSSESSION OF A COMPANY AT THE AIRPORT WHILE THE COMPANY CHANGED HANDS, SO THERE IS CONFUSION THERE.)

  I TOOK THESE PHOTOS AND INVENTORIED THE AIRPLANE JUST LAST WEEK, SO WE KNOW THAT ONLY THE ITEMS WE HAVE LISTED ARE MISSING, NOT OTHERS)
