The Port Townsend Aero Museum is cleaning out some much needed hangar space so we are putting our collection of Culver V aircraft up for auction. This NO RESERVE auction includes two complete Culver V airframes, less engines. In addition, there are many extra Culver parts included that were collected towards the restoration by the previous owner of these aircraft. We have paperwork on these aircraft, and will include paperwork for several other Culvers as well. The additional paperwork was purchased by the previous owner as he collected the various parts and pieces. Below is a short list of what's included in this auction:
- Two Culver V fuselages, one of which has undergone restoration of the wooden structure and was ready for covering.
- Two wing assemblies, one of which can be restored, and one that should be considered for patterns only.
- Nine ailerons
- Five engine mounts
- Seven aluminum nose bowls
- Six rudders
- Four Cowlings
- Three Horizontal stabilizers with elevators.
- Three instrument panel assemblies.
- Two Sensenich Skyblade controllable pitch propellers.
- Three canopies with windshields.
- Several seat frames.
- Several exhaust systems.
- Boxes and boxes of additional small parts including gear motors, cables, brackets, Etc.
- A box of paperwork including drawings, technical information, AW Certificates, Data Plates, Etc.
- And much more.
If you already own one of these rare aircraft then you've just struck gold with this auction. If you don't currently own a Culver V but would like the chance to restore an early Al Mooney design that helped to set the stage for what was to come, then this is the auction for you. The Culver V was designed to be easy to fly, fast, and very economical.
Do to the volume of Culver parts in this auction we recommend a local pickup only. It will take a full sized truck with overhead rack, and large trailer to haul both of these aircraft and all of their extra parts in one load. Payment is due within 72 hours from the auction end. If you are unable to pickup the aircraft within a couple of weeks, storage may be available for a fee. Please email questions. Thank you.
