Further review by owner disclosed 'nick' in cable by headset. See last two pictures. Headset was tested with an aircraft and worked but 'fuzzy'. Although individual strands do not appear severed, did not want to tape up thus 'hiding' apparent defect/flaw. I feel confident that item is repairable ... ranging from good tape job to cable replacement/resizing.
