I removed this unit from my personal plane for a panel upgrade. It was working perfect when removed. Includes tray, connector plugs, antenna, DATA card and installation manual. The three most commonly used buttons; ENT, CLR and <-> have some wear in that the black has rubbed off. This seems to be a common problem with many of the Garmin products. Irritating. I updated the operating software a few years ago to the latest version. I don't beleive any newer versions have come out since. The DATA card is expired. I don't remember what date it is because I had several cards I rotated through as I updated. The only real difference from the straight 250 model compared to the 250XL is that the XL has one extra page that is a moving map. Also, the XL has a backlit LCD screen whereas the straight 250 has a LED screen. I have used the XL in other planes and find the moving map crude, slow, small and useless. And, I think the bright LED display is easier to see. The straight 250 is just slightly older than the XL and is thus a little cheaper. For the price I think it is a better value.
