You are purchasing a used Garmin GTX 320 (NOT a 320A) transponder, P/N: 011-00259-00; S/N: 83201876 with mods #1 and #2; an ACK Technologies A-30 Encoder, S/N: 50193 with mod #3; Garmin transponder tray, and all associated cables and plugs associated with these units as pictured. This transponder, encoder and tray were removed from a Cherokee 235 that was parted out in 2013, and both were working nominally at the time of removal. They were then brought to an FAA-Approved avionics repair and inspection station where they were tested and inspected. They passed the inspections and testing, and the 8130-3 document attesting to that fact is included with the unit, and is shown in the photos, as is the Work Order for the job performed. The encoder information is visible in the photos, as is the slight dent that appears on the top of the encoder. Defects are as follows: There are two cosmetic cracks in the plastic of the GTX320 faceplate, not visible from the front. One is on the left upper screw hole (on side of unit), and one is on the right lower screw hole (on side of unit). (These small cracks are visible in the photos, and could be repaired with appropriate adhesives). The top of the encoder unit is slightly dented, but does not affect its performance. The inspection and testing of the encoder was done with this dent present, and the unit tested satisfactorily.
The encoder tray is riveted to the top of the transponder tray, and a thumb screw allows the removal of the unit from the tray. If you purchase these units and wish to mount the encoder in a different location, then the rivets will need to be drilled out and the mounting plate for the encoder moved to its new locaiton.
All components have been in dust-free storage, wrapped in bubble-wrap since the testing was performed in April of 2013.
