1960 CESSNA 310D TWIN, VERY SHARP 5 SEAT AIRPLANE, LOW ENGINE TIMES, LIGHT GEAR-UP, CHEAP !!

THIS IS A VERY NICE 200 MPH, 5 PASSENGER TWIN ENGINED AIRPLANE, AND IT HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR !!

THE EXTERIOR PAINT AND INTERIOR CONDITION ARE BOTH GOOD.

USED AS FAMILY TRANSPORTATION BY THE OWNER, AND MAINTAINED SO AS TO BE SAFE AND RELIABLE.


THE FUEL INJECTED 260 H.P. IO-470 ENGINES HAVE VERY LOW TIMES !!

RIGHT ENGINE ONLY 188 SMOH !!  T.B.O. IS 1400 HOURS, SO THIS ENGINE IS HARDLY BROKEN IN !!!

LEFT ENGINE IS ALMOST AS LOW TIME, WITH ONLY 400 SMOH, AGAIN ON A 1400 T.B.O. ENGINE !!

THIS NICE AIRPLANE HAD A NICE PILOT OWNER, WHO REMEMBERED TO PUT THE LANDING GEAR DOWN ON EVERY LANDING FOR YEARS, EXCEPT THE LAST ONE !!

FLYING IN FOR THE OSHKOSH AIRVENTURE AIRSHOW  THIS JULY, THE PILOT LANDED AT THE NEARBY APPLETON, WISCONSIN AIRPORT, RATHER THAN THE SUPER-HECTIC SHOW GROUNDS, BUT THERE WAS STILL LOTS OF TRAFFIC IN THE PATTERN, AND THE TOWER EXTENDED HIS DOWNWIND A LONG WAY.

WITH MORE THAN THE USUAL TIME AT REDUCED POWER AND FULL FLAPS TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AT A LOWER THAN NORMAL PATTERN SPEED, THE PILOT SIMPLY FORGOT TO LOWER THE GEAR !!  IT'S NOT A SIN, BUT IT IS BEST TO AVOID TRYING IT !!

THE LANDING, HOWEVER, WAS GREAT !!

A GENTLE SETTLE IN A FLAT CONFIGURATION, SO THAT THE DAMAGE INCURRED  WAS AMAZINGLY LIGHT !!

AS THE FLAPS WERE DOWN, THIER TRAILING EDGES TOOK THE MAJORITY OF THE SCRAPING.  THE INBOARD FLAP (THERE ARE TWO ON THE 310, INBOARD AND OUTBOARD) IS SERIOUSLY SCRAPED, AND WILL REQUIRE RESKINNING OR REPLACEMENT.

THE OUTBOARD FLAP HAS A LIGHT AMOUNT OF SCRAPING, TO THE SKIN ONLY, NOT THE STRUCTURE, AND ONLY ON THE INBOARD FEW INCHES. THIS COULD EASILY BE PATCHED !!

THERE ARE SEVERAL SKINS ON THE BELLY THAT HAVE SOME SCRAPING, AS SHOWN, BUT IT COVERS A VERY SMALL AREA OF THE FORWARD BELLY !!

SEVERAL OF THE AFFECTED SKINS ARE NOT RIVETED, JUST BOLTED ON, LIKE THE TWO WING TO FUSELAGE FILLETS, WHICH TOOK A GOOD PORTION OF THE DAMAGE.  THE UNDERLYING STRUCTURES IN THIS AREA DID NOT SEEM TO TAKE THE DAMAGE, ONLY THESE EASILY AND QUICKLY REPLACEABLE PANELS !!!!

THERE ARE TWO ANTENNAS ON THE BELLY THAT ALSO GOT SCRAPED, BUT THESE TOO KEPT THE SURROUNDING SKINS FROM SERIOUS DAMAGE

ONE NOSE GEAR DOOR HAS A SUPER LIGHT SCRAPE ON THE TRAILING EDGE, NOT MUCH MORE THAN PAINT, AND THE OTHER HAS ONLY MODERATE SCRAPING, ONLY TO THE TRAILING EDGE, AND NO DEFORMATION !!

THE STEP WAS NOT EXTENDED, SO IT IS NOT SCRAPED UP

IN FACT, THAT IS ALL OF THE AIRFRAME DAMAGE WE COULD FIND !!

NO DAMAGE TO THE NOSE CONE OR PITOT OR GEAR WELL SIDES LIKE A NOSEGEAR FAILURE WOULD CAUSE

NO SCRAPES TO THE LOWER COWLINGS OR NOSEBOWLS

NO DAMAGE TO THE MAIN GEAR DOORS, NEITHER INBOARD OR OUTBOARD

NO DAMAGE TO ANY OF THE GEAR !! 

TAILCONE AND TAIL FEATHERS ARE UNDAMAGED

FUSELAGE IS NOT TWEAKED AT ALL, DOOR FITS GREAT !!

ALL GLASS LOOKS GOOD

SOME OF THE FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS AND ALL OF THE RADIO PACKAGE WERE REMOVED AFTER THE INCIDENT, AND THESE ITEMS ARE NOT INCLUDED.

THIS IS A 28 VOLT AIRCRAFT, AND YOU WILL FIND THAT 28 VOLT EQUIPMENT, FROM KING, GARMIN, ARC OR NARCO IS PLENTIFUL AND EVEN CHEAPER ON THE MARKET THAN 14 VOLT, SO YOU CAN ADD WHAT YOU WANT AT A GOOD PRICE !!
