WHETHER THE PROBLEM WAS ALL THE FAULT OF THE TURBOS (THEY WERE BAD), THE COMPLICATED EXHAUST SYSTEM (TROUBLE PRONE) OR WHETHER THE IO-470 260 H.P. ENGINE AND THE CYLINDER TECHNOLOGY OF THE DAY WEREN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE TURBO PRESSURE, THE TURBO ENGINES HAD A VERY LOW 1200 HOUR TBO, AND THEY VIRTUALLY NEVER MADE IT THAT FAR, USUALLY NOT EVEN HALF THAT FAR !!

BY ELIMINATING  THE TURBOS, HEAVY AND COMPLICATED EXHAUST, SWAPPING OUT THE HIGHER HORSEPOWER BUT ACTUALLY THE SAME WEIGHT IO-520, THIS CONVERSION GIVES A REAL 1700 HOUR TBO,  A USEFUL LOAD GAIN, FAR BETTER PERFORMANCE ON TAKE-OFF AND CLIMB-OUT, AND BETTER PERFORMANCE ACROSS THE WHOLE FLIGHT ENVELOPE UP TO 15,000 FEET, AND FAR BETTER UNDER 10,000 FEET, WHERE MOST TRIPS ARE ACTUALLY FLOWN  !!

THE ENGINES  EACH HAVE ONLY 420 HOURS SINCE MAJOR OVERHAUL,  PERFORMED BY WESTERN SKYWAYS IN 2006

THIS NICE AIRPLANE SUFFERED DAMAGE DURING A HIGH FLARE LANDING, WHEN THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN TOO HARD ON THE MAIN GEAR !!

THE GEAR ITSELF ALL LOOKS AND CHECKS OUT FINE, AND IT DID NOT COLLAPSE OR SIDE LOAD.

THERE IS SOME VERY LIGHT WRINKLING TO THE LOWER WING SKINS IN THE AREA OF THE GEAR DOOR ATTACH, NOTICEABLE ON  THE LEFT SIDE, ALMOST  IMPERCEPTIBLE ON THE RIGHT.

IN ADDITION, THERE IS SOME LIGHT WRINKLING INSIDE THE NACELLES  AND ON THE EDGE OF THE GEAR WELLS, BUT AGAIN IT IS LIGHT, AND YOU MUST REALLY GO LOOKING FOR IT.  EVEN THE MOST VISIBLE DAMAGE, TO THE SKIN ON THE LEFT WING LOWER, IS NOT SOMETHING YOU WILL SEE UNLESS YOU LOOK FOR IT !!

THE FUNNY THING IS, THERE IS NO OTHER DAMAGE  !!!!!!

NEITHER OF THE 3 BLADE PROPS HIT, AND THE ENGINES SIT CORRECTLY IN THE NACELLES

NONE OF THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED, SO THERE IS NO FUSELAGE DAMAGE

THERE IS NO MAIN OR NOSE GEAR DAMAGE !!!!

NONE OF THE CONTROL SURFACES ARE DAMAGED

THE DOORS SHUT WELL AND TIGHTLY, THERE IS NO FUSELAGE DEFORMATION

NO TAIL DAMAGE, OF COURSE.

THE MECHANIC WHO HAS WORKED ON THE PLANE FOR OVER 10 YEARS ASSUMES THAT THE AIRPLANE IS READY TO FLY AWAY (HE ASKED ME IF I WAS FLYING IT OUT TODAY !!)

SO, WHAT DOES THIS AIRPLANE REQUIRE?

WELL IT WILL REQUIRE REPAIR OF ALL OF THE STRUCTURAL DEFICIENCIES IN THE WING THAT ARE OF AN AIRWORTHY NATURE.

YOU OF YOUR MECHANIC WILL HAVE TO DETERMINE HOW EXTENSIVE THAT REPAIR WOULD BE, ONCE YOU FLY  IT BACK TO YOUR HOME AIRPORT.
