1965 MOONEY M20E "SUPER 21" 200 H.P., 4421TT, ONLY 587 SMOH, ONLY LIGHT BELLY DAMAGE, CHEAP SPEED !!

THE M20 "E" IS THE 200 H.P. VERSION OF MOONEY'S M20 SERIES

CALLED SUPER BECAUSE OF IT'S EXTRA POWER, AND 21 TO DENOTE THE HIGHER CONTENT LEVEL THAN THE PLAIN M20C

THE 'E' MODEL IS A 150-155 KNOT AIRPLANE IN STOCK FORM.

THIS AIRPLANE HAS THE STANDARD SLOPE WINDSHIELD, BUT UPGRADED TO A ONE PIECE DESIGN, WITHOUT THE OLD CENTER PILLAR.

IT ALSO HAS THE DESIRABLE COWL CLOSURE MOD, WHICH ACTUALLY AIDS COOLING WHILE INCREASING CRUISE SPEED.

THIS IS A GOOD LOOKING AIRPLANE, IN AND OUT.

OUTSIDE, THE UPDATED PAINT SCHEME IS BORROWED FROM THE LATER 201, AND THE PAINT CONDITION IS VERY GOOD !!!

ALL OF THE GLASS LOOKS GOOD AS WELL !!

INSIDE, THE TAN SEATS WITH CLOTH INSERTS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION OVERALL, WITH ONLY A SMALL TEAR IN THE SIDE OF THE PILOT'S SEAT.

MOST NOTABLE ARE THE VERY GOOD CONDITION OF THE INTERIOR PLASTICS, A WEAK SPOT ON MANY OLDER MOONEYS.

THIS AIRPLANES SIDE PANELS, OVERHEAD, AND HAT SHELF ARE IN GREAT CONDITION, AND THE UPDATED DASH PANELS ARE FANTASTIC.

MOST OLDER MOONEYS ARE STILL EQUIPPED WITH THE ORIGINAL MANUAL GEAR, WHICH ALTHOUGH FUNCTIONAL, IS A PAIN, CAN BE HARD WORK, AND LOOKS ARCHAIC !!

THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN RETRO-FITTED WITH PROPER ELECTRIC GEAR !!

THE OTHER SHORTCOMING OF MOST PRE 70'S MOONEYS IS NO AUTOPILOT !!

A CROSS-COUNTRY AIRPLANE LIKE THIS ONE DESERVES A GOOD AUTOPILOT, AND THE LATER MODEL BRITTEN ACCUTRAC II FILLS THE BILL    !!

ALL ACCUTRAC'S HAVE SIMPLE WING LEVELING AND RADIO TRACKING, BUT THIS SYSTEM ALSO HAS THE OPTIONAL D.G. WITH HEADING BUG, SO YOU HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL.

THE EGT/CHT ENGINE MONITOR SYSTEM AND DISPLAY WAS REMOVED, AND IS NOT INCLUDED, SORRY.

THIS NICELY CARED FOR AND ALWAYS HANGERED AIRPLANE SUFFERED DAMAGE WHEN THE LANDING GEAR WAS NOT EXTENDED FOR LANDING

DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO SEVERAL OF THE SCREW- ON BELLY  PANELS, AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTOS, BUT THERE ONLY APPEARS TO BE DAMAGE TO ONE OF THE SHEET METAL CROSS BRACES, (WHICH ARE ALSO REPLACEABLE), AS WELL AS THE NOSE GEAR DOORS.

THE EXHAUST PIPE IS BENT AT THE END

THERE ARE SMALL SCRAPES TO THE BOTTOMS OF THE TWO INBOARD FLAP HANGER BRACKETS, BUT THE DAMAGE IS LIGHT, AND THEY SHOULD NOT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT

BOTH BLADES OF THE TWO  BLADE HARTZELL  PROP ARE BENT AT THE ENDS, AND SCRAPED, AS THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO TURN UNTIL SHUT DOWN BY THE PILOT. THE POLISHED SPINNER IS UNDAMAGED.

THE LYCOMING IO-360A1A 200 H.P. ENGINE HAS ONLY 587 SMOH IN 2002 (2000 HOUR TBO), SO IT REQUIRES ONLY AN INSPECTION, DEFINITELY NOT AN OVERHAUL.

THE GEAR LEGS HAVE BEEN SECURED DOWN.

IT APPEARS THAT THE AIRPLANE WOULD ONLY REQUIRE A PROP AND AN EXHAUST PIPE REPLACEMENT TO BE FERRIABLE
