This aviation headset is Pilot Communications USA's DNC XL model with active noise reduction (ANR). It has dual plugs for general aviation aircraft. This has been my personal headset for years and is very clean and in good working order. The upgraded Oregon Aero SoftSeal memory foam ear seals and sheepskin-style head pad are in great shape, so no need to replace. The headset is comfortable and doesn't squeeze too hard.
This is an older version of Pilot's top-of-the-line PA-1779T. This is the only self-contained ANR in the industry with a rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery and standard 110V wall charger. Don't confuse this model with Pilot's cheaper PA-1991T ANR headset that has the battery box in-line in the cable. This headset has the battery in the earcup, so you don't have to worry about the in-line battery box banging into your knees. This headset does not connect to MP3 players or cell phones. The 3.5mm jack on the headset is only used for recharging the battery.
The flexible mic boom can be worn on the right or left side. The cable has a few spots where the insulation is flaking off, but this has no effect on the functionality. And since the cable is removeable, it's easily replaceable. If you want a high-quality ANR headset but don't want to drop big bucks on a Bose or David Clark, this is a fantastic alternative. Pilot Communications is still in business making these headsets, so service and replacement parts are easily available if you ever need them.
The headset comes in the original branded case and includes the wall charger and the dual plug cable, with individual volume controls and mono/stereo switch.
