Before you bid, please read this description,  This 480 will be removed in the summer of 2026 by my avionics shop.  If you are bidding on it. I will ship it as soon as it is removed.  I can't ship it any sooner because it is in service.  If you need it sooner. I don't know how we can work it out.

Working GARMIN GNS 480. Currently in aircraft and being used now.  You are welcome to check it out in Santa Ana at John Wayne.  If you're close to SNA, I can fly to your location so you can check it out.  CNO, RAL, SBD, maybe SBP ? etc..

This was the First GPS WAAS certified navigator introduced for the GA market and was way ahead of its time.  If installed in accordance with the installation manual, it is IFR approach capable.  I use it all the time to fly approaches.  With more GPS WAAS approaches being introduced.  WAAS certified GPS Navigation is becoming essential.

Some folks think the 480 is a bit more cumbersome to use than the other Garmin GNS options.  However, after reading the manual, learning the 480 buttonology and using the 480 a few times. You will find the 480 to be intuitive, user friendly and very, very capable.  In fact, more capable than the 430 & 530 in my opinion.

The new Garmin GTN series logic and buttonology is very similar to the 480 because the 480 was superior to the 430 & 530.  One of the coolest features of the 480 is it has all the Victor airways in the database.  The 430 & 530 did not have Victor airways in them.  Super cool.

The only downside to the 480 is it is no longer supported by Garmin.  But, the 430 & 530 are not supported by the Garmin mother ship either.  However, there are apparently guys out there who still make minor repairs to these. Such as replacing the memory battery.
